  • Mark your calendars for Graphika Manila and Manila Design Week, both opening in August.

  • Fil-Am jazz singer Charmaine Clamor is honored by the Asian Heritage Awards for bringing Filipino languages, melodies, and instruments to mainstream listeners.
  • If you happen to be in LA this Saturday, don’t miss BakitWhy’s first anniversary celebration, proceeds of which will help PNOY Apparel’s Shirt the Kids campaign.
  • The book, Filipinos in Carson and the South Bay, which highlights the history of the Pinoy community in Carson, CA.  will launch on August 8 at the Carson Community Center.
  • Two of Elmer Borlongan’s newest works, which will be exhibited in Italy, will be up for auction between August 1 and 5 at the 1/of Gallery in Serendra. Proceeds of this sale will benefit Canvas, Fernando Sena’s Art Discovery and Learning Center, Casa San Miguel Foundation, and the Silangan Foundation for the Arts, Culture, and Ecology.
  • Yoga Wholistics iNQ’s Tina Feibel provides helpful tips to those wanting to shift to a vegetarian diet.

LA, California–Filipina jazz and world vocalist Charmaine Clamor has won the 6th Annual Asian Heritage Award in the Performing Arts.

Clamor, the creator of jazzipino, was recognized for her trailblazing accomplishments in bringing Filipino languages, melodies, and instruments to mainstream listeners. She is the only Filipino to have two consecutive albums land in the top 10 of JazzWeek’s World Music radio chart.

Los Angeles, CA– Filipino-American online lifestyle community BakitWhy.com celebrates it first year with a benefit event at Jimmy’s Lounge in Hollywood on Saturday, August 1, 9 p.m.

The show will feature homegrown Pinoy talents singer-songwriter Ashley Robles, singer-songwriter Ryan Espe, and comedian and amazing magician Justin Rivera. Music will be by DJ Icy Ice of the World Famous Beat Junkies and Power106 LA.

Part of the proceeds of the benefit will go to the Shirt the Kids Campaign, a program of LA-based PNOY Apparel that donates T-shirts, school supplies, and food to needy children in the Philippines.
