Sopranos Florence Aguilar, Deeda Barretto, Ana Feleo, and Karla Gutierrez breathe new life into the traditional harana [serenade] in this video of “Pamaypay ng Maynila” by Constancio de Guzman. Younger audiences not exposed to the classic harana will hopefully appreciate this new arrangement by Von de Guzman.
“Pamaypay ng Maynila” is one of the cuts in the album Harana, recently released by Pixelgrain, Inc. Other tracks include Levi Celerio’s “Kalesa,” “Waray-Waray” and “Kung Ako’y Mag-aasawa” by J. Silos, Angel Pena’s “Iyo Kailan pa Man,” and medleys that include “Manang Biday,” “Sa Kabukiran,” and “Bituing Marikit.” All songs are part of the live performances of Harana: A Cultural Journey, a concert produced by the Philippine Opera Company in 2008. The album costs P350 and can be ordered through the Pixelgrain site. You may also call (+632) 725 8051 or the Philippine Opera Company at (+632) 892 8786.
Harana will have a special run on May 28 to 30, 2009, 8 p.m. at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati City. For tickets, call the Philippine Opera Company at (+632) 8928 786 or Ticketworld at (+632) 8919 999.

Thank you so much for posting this. :)
@Hi, Ana! Thanks for dropping by, and you're welcome. I loved the album! I think the new arrangement did so much in getting me hooked on it!
This is the first album of old Filipino songs I enjoyed. Very modern! Congrats to the producers!
