Raise those clean hands. UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) teams up with global partner Procter and Gamble Philippines, maker of family soap Safeguard, for the Global Handwashing Day on October 15, 2008. An international event participated in by 20 countries across five continents, Global Handwashing Day aims to motivate people to make it a habit to wash their hands with soap. Handwashing is the most cost-effective way to prevent pneumonia and diarrhea. The latter kills 10,000 Filipino children every year.
