Los Angeles–The Filipino American Library and the Los Angeles Public Library are featuring Pinoy children’s book titles Felisa and the Magic Tikling Bird, illustrated by Martin Charlot from a story by Jodi Parry Belknap, and Jenny’s Magic Wand by Helen and Bill Hermann in a special event for the LAPL’s Summer Reading Club on July 26, Saturday, at 2 p.m at the Echo Park Library.
Recommended for children between 3 and 8 years old, this free event will also include an introductory workshop on tinikling, the Philippine national dance. Snacks and drinks will be served.
The FAL Children’s Reading Program promotes the value of diversity to children in Greater Los Angeles through the reading of Filipino children’s books. The theme of this year’s LAPL Summer Reading Club is “Reading Magic,” which aims to teach children about the magic of determination and courage by reading stories about children with disabilities.
