“Dancing Rings,” a stainless-steel sculpture (top photo) by Filipino artist Joe Datuin, placed first and won $30,000 at the 2008 Olympic Sport & Art Contest. Entries from Malaysia and Georgia placed second and third place, respectively.
Meanwhile Edmar Colmo’s oil on canvas (photo below), “Dreams for Goals,” was also acknowledged as highly recommended by the international Olympic jury.

The winning pieces will be exhibited at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne as well as this summer at the Olympic Expo in Beijing.
Datuin’s and Colmo’s works were the official entries of the Philippines to the 2008 Olympic Sport & Art Contest.
The Philippine Olympic Committee judges were Fil dela Cruz, Egai Fernandez, POC president Jose Cojuangco, POC secretary-general Steven Hontiveros, and Ramon Orlina, POC art consultant. Becky Garcia is the co-chair of the Committee in Art and Culture.
