  • Kababayans in Los Angeles might want to take this rare opportunity to meet New York Times best-selling author Marisa de los Santos. The Fil-Am writer will sign copies of her recent books at Remy’s on Temple this Friday, May 30.
  • Reedley International School headmaster Jerome Castro discusses how schools are accountable for a child’s nonperformance. This talk is part of a series of FREE parenting seminars. Want to join? RSVP details here.
  • Feed your artistic side: If you haven’t checked out Steve Tirona’s “Will Work 4 Food” over at Silverlens, you can still catch the closing party on Saturday, May 24, at 6 p.m. Silverlens Gallery is located at 2320 Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati City. Call (+632) 816 0044 for details.
  • Something for next weekend: Life Is Good’s watermelon festival is FINALLY pushing through next Saturday, May 31, and what a good way to end the summer, so bring your kids and go. For registration details, read this.
  • If you haven’t seen any BenCab piece, his upcoming exhibit, “Related Images,” at Silverlens is the best opportunity to be acquainted with the works of this National Artist. The exhibit opens May 31, so mark your calendars. The occasion also marks the launch of award-winning writer Krip Yuson’s Hand Over Heart: A Life for BenCab on June 28 (just thought you’d want to plan ahead).
  • Singer-actor Sam Milby, MYMP, and Kris Lawrence were among the artists who performed at the recent Pinoy Musik Festival at Secaucus, New Jersey.
  • Congratulations to Eline Santos, who won grand prize in the recent Romeo Forbes Storywriting Competition. Also Gigo Alampay of Canvas is giving us the heads-up about a soon-to-be-launched title, Si Lupito at ang Baryo Sirkero by Rowald Almazar.
  • Another Pinoy makes us proud: Sam Concepcion’s version of “Kung Fu Fighting” is part of the soundtrack of the upcoming animated film Kung Fu Panda. Sam is the first Pinoy ever to sing for Dreamworks. We sure believed this boy will go places.
  • A sentimental way to end the week.
