Singer-actor Sam Milby poses with a young fan during the two-day Pinoy Musik Festival held last week at Secaucus, New Jersey. The event was sponsored by Myx, Asian Journal, Western Union, Special Edition Press, Mama Sita’s, and our good friends at Aryty, among many others.
Other performers include MYMP, Kris Lawrence, Divo Bayer, the PorkChop Duo, and Ray Kilay of Poca New Jersey. Pinoy Musik Festival showcases original Pilipino Music and provides a venue for Filipino musicians to break into the mainstream market. It’s also an opportunity to reach out to the growing Filipino-American population in the northeast.
Aside from the concert, the festival featured songwriting and videoke competitions, a search for the top Filipino bands in the region, and bands from select Philippine universities and colleges alumni associations.
This year’s Pinoy Musik Festival also pays homage to our Filipino-Spanish heritage with an Expo de Mayo, which showcases Spanish businesses and Latino talents.
The foodcourt offered more than 50 dishes from various regions in the Philippines.
