carlo Orosa, sam concepcion, selina de venecia, Kung Fu Panda, Pinoy feat

L-R: Carlo Orosa, Sam’s manager, Sam Concepcion, and United International Picture GM Selina de Venecia

Another first for the Pinoy: Teen performer Sam Concepcion is the first Filipino artist to sing for Dreamworks, which has done animated films such as Shrek, Shark Tale, Over the Hedge, and the most recent Bee Movie.

Concepcion’s version of “Kung Fu Fighting” is included in the soundtrack of the upcoming animated film Kung Fu Panda. It will also be played during the end credits of the Philippine run.

“It is a rare occasion for a Hollywood movie to have a local artist sing in the soundtrack album. This is Sam’s first international recording break, and he truly deserves it,” says Selina de Venecia, United International Pictures general manager.

Pop superstar Rain also recorded “Kung Fu Fighting” for DreamWorks in Korea, while the US release will use the version of R&B artist and song producer Ceelo Green.

Kung Fu Panda is about Po the Panda, the laziest animal in all of the Valley of Peace, but who accidentally turns out the chosen one when enemies threaten their way of life.

Kung Fu Panda features the voices of Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Ian McShane, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogan, Lucy Liu, David Cross, Randall Duk Kim, James Hong, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Dan Fogler. It opens June 6 in the the Philippines and has been rated PG for its martial arts sequences.

You truly deserve it Sam. Your talent is worth the international attention. When Sam worked with me (as the event director) and AV Macasusi Ad for the Plaza Fair 15th anniversary celebration, I saw Sam’s great talent and personality. He is a very kind kid. I will not wonder why he is going global now.

The Cagay-anons love and support you Sam.

    Many congratulations to you!
