Australian-based Filipino artist and editorial cartoonist of the Sydney Morning Herald Edd Aragon marks his homecoming with three exhibits.”Digitalla Prima” features photographs and scanned images that Aragon enhanced using Photoshop. The exhibit opened last Sunday at the Oarhouse on 1803 A. Mabini St., Malate, Manila.

“Mulat,”Aragon’s ultraviolet light-reactive (invisible) paintings on canvas of legendary
Filipino and Western rock & blues musicians, nudes, and allegorical images, opens this Saturday, April 12, at 5 p.m., at Banyuhay ni Heber Arts & Music Center on 170 Banlat Road, Tandang Sora, Quezon City (contact +632 453 0516).

“Mulat” bridges the old and modern-day heroes using musical and visual allusions in an alternative light. “It’s almost like exploring the dark side of the moon,” Aragon says.

Lastly, “Op-Edd!” a collection of Aragon’s opinion editorial cartoons and caricatures published in the Sydney Morning Herald, including prints of his political cartoons, will be unveiled on April 19, 6 p.m. at Maestro, Masterpiece Art Depot, 2F Room 207, Seneca Bldg., 1152 E.Rodriguez Ave., Quezon City (contact +632 396 5488).

“Op-Edd,” which also runs at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra, reflects Aragon’s years of discipline as newspaper cartoonists. “My experience in Manila newspapers brought me confidence and tenacity to work in Australian papers since the 1980s,” Aragon shares.
