You have to give it to Delifrance. It surely knows its way to the Pinoy stomach. Just weeks after the European-style cafe launched the Flaming Choco Lava Cake in time for Valentine’s, Delifrance has whipped up another surprise for the coffee-loving Filipino: spiked coffee.

Depending on your mood, the weather, or how adventurous you can be, there are three spiked coffee variants to choose from.

Delifrance’s Irish Kiss Baileys is a close replica of the Irish coffee originally invented by Chef Sheridan, who whipped up the concoction to soothe cold and weary American travelers disembarking from an 18-hour flight on the Flying Boat. Available steamy or on the rocks, Irish Kiss Baileys is a blend of rich espresso, Irish whiskey, and creme and served on a glass with a lemon-sugar-kissed rim.

If you’re in the mood for the Mexican liqueur kahlua, then the Mayan Passion Kahlua is for you. Available iced or hot, it is a mix of heavy and sweet liqueur and intense espresso, whipped cream, and lemon sugar. (Arpee and I initially thought kahlua was Hawaiian, but Delifrance’s PR man Brad Geiser helpfully pointed out the kahlua’s origins.)

Everything bold and adventurous is incarnated in the Sputnik Vodka Espresso, which is a mixture of crushed ice, aromatic espresso, crystal-clear vodka, and lemon sugar.

Each serving of spiked coffee has less than 3 percent of alcohol content, says Dianne of Delifrance’s marketing, but too much of it can also make you tipsy, as we discovered during Delifrance’s bloggers-only spiked coffee launch.

My personal favorite is the hot Mayan Passion Kahlua–I thought it was just right for my taste, while I found the Sputnik Vodka too strong for me. Delifrance uses Arabica coffee sourced in Cordillera, and that is something noteworthy because it supports local farmers while ensuring you get fresh coffee.

Delifrance is giving away free spiked coffee after 5 p.m. this week. Find out how you can get it by reading this other post.

Also, according to Delifrance’s Multiply, you can get brewed coffee and the Flaming Choco Lava Cake for only P99. The dessert is usually available at P75.

Delifrance has 27 branches in Metro Manila.
