batang-rizal-cover-03.jpg The Philippine Educational Theater Association’s Batang Rizal continues to enchant audiences as it goes to Bacoor, Cavite.

In the story, Pepito, a grade six student of Rizal Elementary School, accidentally breaks the head of the statue of the young Rizal, given to the school by the city mayor as a gift for the Buwan ng Wika celebration.

He is given a week to return the statue. Pepito finds himself traveling back in time to Calamba, to the home of Pepe, a boy who would later become the national hero.

Together, Pepe and Pepito embark on the adventure of a lifetime, experiencing life in each other’s time zones, and discovering that patriotism and heroism can be found even in an ordinary child’s heart.

Written by Christine Bellen and directed by Dudz Teraña with music by Vincent A. de Jesus, Batang Rizal runs at the SM City Bacoor Cinema 6 from January 24 to 27, 2008, with shows at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
