What happens when an internationally famous Filipino cosmetic surgeon Beau Batoctol grants seven lucky texters the chance to stay at his beauty resort, the Skin-Deep Beauty Sanctuary, for a month and avail of all the treatments and surgeries for free?

It will surely be a major havoc: the Lucky Makeover Seven includes an obese female call-center agent, a troubled married couple, a male model wannabe, a flamboyant florist, an abused housewife burned beyond recognition, and the reigning Miss Artificial Beauty.

In Vince de Jesus’ Skin-Deep, produced by the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), these seven characters undergo different procedures hoping to become more aesthetically acceptable. In the process, they discover that the pursuit of beauty is much more dangerous than the pursuit of happiness.

Directed by Nor Domingo, Skin-Deep includes some of today’s most admired theater actors: Robert Seña, Isay Alvarez, May Bayot-de Castro, Bituin Escalante, Melvin Lee, Rem Zamora, Phil Noble, Gail Guanlao-Billones, Mary Ann Espinosa, Al Gatmaitan, Red Anderson, Glecy Atienza, Diana Malahay, Onyl Torres, Delphine Buencamino, Neomi Tabanao-Gonzales, Joseph Grantusa, Giu Comia, Joan Bugcat, Eric dela Cruz, and Eric Bisa.

Skin-Deep features music by Lucien Letaba, arranged by Melvin Corpin. Choreography is by Christine Crame-Santillan. Product design by Leo Abaya, costume design by Kalila Aguiluz, and lighting design by Jonjon Villareal.

Show opens on February 1 and will run Fridays and weekends up to March 9. Tickets are P300.

i saw the play the other night. the chubby call center agent, kit, is being played by my long-time friend, mary ann. the story is not only touching but also is very socially-relevant in today’s superficial world. even my tough-ass boyfriend loved it.
