As promised, here are more excerpts from last Saturday’s “Theater Talk with Floy Quintos.”
Glaiza Seguia:
In yesterday’s Theater Talk, Floy Quintos said, “rid your minds of cant.” For most of my sitting time there, I was dwelling on the idea of a refresh button in my head so ideas could “load” faster and better. The director, of course, was talking about theater arts appreciation, but I guess, a little mind spring-cleaning is needed to prevent brain constipation too. ["Crunchy Tuna Roll"]
Arpee and Noreen Lazaro:
Of the things that Floy said, I will forever cherish his words describing theater as “a bastard of all the arts.” No truer was this when he started talking about works like “Walang Sugat,” “As You Like It” and “Romeo and Juliet.” His extensive knowledge of literature is impeccable, as is his mastery of history. In theater, one must be familiar with literature, production design, graphic arts (finance and logistics too, I believe) and psychology, at the very least. ["Floy Talks Theater"]
