PinoyCentric and stage critic Gibbs Cadiz—big fans of Philippine theater—are sponsoring 10 bloggers on a walking tour of the new PETA (Philippine Educational Theater Association) Center in Quezon City and a matinee show of Christine Bellen’s Batang Rizal on August 25, Saturday.
The one-hour walkthrough of the PETA building, starting at 1:30 p.m., will give the participants an idea of how a theater production is run and what happens backstage. They will see how elements meld into a complete theater experience during the performance later on the same afternoon.
Who may join: Active bloggers who are willing to write about the experience of observing a stage production and seeing how the final piece turns out.
How to join: Interested bloggers may e-mail Gibbs at gibbs_c@yahoo.com to signify their intent to join the tour and watch the performance. Participants will be chosen on a first-come-first-served basis.
What to do afterward: Write a 300- to 500-word review of the tour and the play. It doesn’t need to be as eloquent as a Palanca piece. Tell us what you enjoyed about it and how you were touched by it.
A prize for the best piece: Because we believe in rewarding efforts, PinoyCentric is giving away a Moleskine reporter notebook to the piece that moved us the most. (The Moleskine is a legendary notebook used by European thinkers and artists for the past two centuries, from Picasso to Van Gogh, from Ernest Hemingway to Bruce Chatwin.)
Deadlines: All reviews should be posted before August 31, Friday. Gibbs Cadiz and PinoyCentric’s Armand Frasco and Karla Maquiling will go through all the entries and announce the winners on September 3, Monday.
