This week in PinoyCentric:

  • We say goodbye to Yoyoy Villame, comedian and folk singer, who died last Saturday of cardiac arrest. Villame is remembered for the humorous song “buchikik,” among others.
  • Peace Corps volunteer Julia Campbell is remembered by her friends in a posthumous tribute at the Oarhouse.
  • Mike Ligalig’s Visayan poetry waxes nostalgic over unrequited love and lost romances.
  • Win a trip to Paris: Moleskine, in collaboration with Air France, launches a challenge to Asian travelers to design their ultimate travel journal.
  • Ang Pagkarapa” tells of a Filipino family keeping the faith by commissioning a Holy Week tableau every year.
  • Birdwatcher and founding member of the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines Mads Bajarias writes about a stunning painting by wildlife illustrator Oscar Figuracion Jr. and all the memories it brought back.
  • A Philippine Institutions 100 class in UP launches “Isang Bakla sa Hukbo ni Aguinaldo,” a play which won third place in the 1998 Centennial Literary Awards.
  • The Ika Nga Komiks contest is still open until midnight on June 2nd.
  • As always you are invited to discover and join our FLICKR group.
