“I grew up in the kitchen,” vegetarian chef Haridas Capulong says, adding humorously, “no wonder I’m as big as a kitchen.”

A vegetarian since birth, Harry has always had this culinary interest, honed extensively at his grandmother’s kitchen. As a teenager, he apprenticed at the now-defunct canteen Mother Sachi on Pasong Tamo, Makati City.

Harry’s family later sent him to Boulder, Colorado, where he studied at the School of Natural Cookery, which focuses on plant-based cooking. Harry also worked briefly as a chef at an Italian restaurant in the same state.

Harry obliged PinoyCentric one weekend, whipping up a pasta dish with white sauce. It was a miracle how we managed to feed a hungry household of eight with only a 500-gram pack of penne!

Enjoy cooking!
